For individuals willing to travel between one hour and 90 minutes away from Waldron, there's also Arkansas Tech University, the University of Arkansas' main campus, Henderson State University, Northeastern State University and Northwest Arkansas Community College.
   
Scott County boasts a senior citizens center and housing facility. A modern hospital with 24 beds is located in Waldron and is operated by the Sisters of Mercy. A new 105-bed nursing home facility is currently under construction. Mercy Hospital of Scott County is located in town and serves the vicinity's health care needs.

The nearest interstate (I-40) is located 45 miles north of Waldron in Fort Smith. We are located 215 miles from Memphis, TN; 140 miles from Little Rock, AR; 100 miles from Fayetteville, AR; 45 miles from Poteau, OK, and 330 miles from Dallas, TX. Motor coach service is provided daily.
  
The nearest commercial airport is 45 miles away in Fort Smith and the local public airport is approximately 3 miles from town with a lighted 4,000-foot runway and private aircraft storage.
